Netflix’s drop-release of OITNB is a blessing and a curse for binge-prone viewers like me. “Do you want to go out this weekend?” is inevitably answered with a short: “sorry, staying in… got some work to finish up.” It’s not really a lie. I call it research. And definitely worth skipping a dance party: season two is even more impressive and entertaining than its predecessor!
The season’s main character Piper Kerman is still the anchor of the story but by focusing on multiple storylines creator Jenji Kohan morphs the show into an ensemble piece. A great move. With her sharp writing and dark humor, Kohan creates not just an intriguing story but also a platform for unique and diverse actresses. Cancel your weekend plans and turn of your cell phones. You are in for a wild ride.
