Orphan Black is the definition of a guilty pleasure done right. The premise is outlandish and the story lines are soap opera-ish but the show's heart is in the right place. Meaning the characters are such strong archetypes that you can't help but fall in love with them. The binge-factor definitely stems from the incredible performance of lead actress and multi clone Tatiana Maslany. And even though I agree that the show on a whole might not be worth an Emmy Award nomination, I thought Maslany's snub was pure ignorance by the voters. Therefore I'll conclude with a quote by Variety editor Jenelle Riley, who found the only possibly conclusion regarding this year's announcement:
"I like to think that maybe Maslany is so consistently outstanding in creating various characters, Emmy voters don’t realize it’s the same actress."
She might be on to something.
